Norway team doctor issues Erling Haaland injury update following training ground incident

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland’s fitness concerns have been clarified by Norway’s team doctor following an issue at training on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old was captured on video during a recent international training session with the Norway squad, where the Manchester City forward was pictured limping and unable to complete the session in full.

Norway are due to play two international friendlies against the Czech Republic and Slovakia over the next fortnight, with both Haaland and Oscar Bobb in contention to feature for Stale Solbakken.

Haaland has struggled with injury during the current campaign, missing 12 matches for Manchester City between December and January due to a foot problem, with the striker missing key Premier League matches and the Blues’ FIFA Club World Cup campaign.

The striker was also replaced by Julian Alvarez after 87 minutes against Newcastle United on Saturday evening in the FA Cup quarter-finals, with the Norway international pictured holding his shoulder moments before being taken off at the Etihad Stadium.

Haaland has scored 29 goals in 34 appearances for Manchester City so far this season, and is set to play a major role in the club’s bid to retain last season’s treble upon returning to east Manchester following the international break.

City, who are just one point off the top of the Premier League table, have also recently qualified for semi-finals of the FA Cup and quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where the Sky Blues will face Chelsea and Real Madrid respectively.

Guardiola’s side also face a showdown clash with Arsenal on Sunday 31st March at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League, just three days before facing fellow high-flyers Aston Villa.

Guardiola is already contending with injury concerns to both Ederson and Kevin De Bruyne, and the Catalonian will be relieved to discover that Norway’s team doctor has dismissed concerns regarding Haaland’s fitness.

Guardiola is set to be without goalkeeper Ederson for the clash with Arsenal due to a muscular problem sustained at Anfield, meanwhile De Bruyne has been left out of the Belgium squad due to a groin injury.

England star Jack Grealish was also left out of Gareth Southgate’s squad for two friendlies at Wembley due to recent injury concerns.
