REDDITCH’S Kingfisher Shopping Centre is set to be taken over by Star Wars characters this Saturday (April 13) and those young and old can get involved.

Echo Base Live is a convention with over 200 stalls selling collectibles and all things Star Wars.

The day includes a meet and greet with 10 actors from the films, and a parade around the Centre  where anyone dressed in Star Wars costume can take part alongside the Cosplay attendees.

Visitors from as far afield as Spain, Germany, Norway, Sweden and the USA will be in attendance.

Centre Manager Adrian Field said: “The Echo Base event is huge for the Centre and attracts a lot of people in whether they are fans or not.

“We wanted to embrace their presence by forming a parade all around the Centre to help put a smile on people’s faces and for those keen on dressing up to get involved.

“I took a few Stormtroopers into some shops last time out and that went well with shoppers and staff so we thought that we would raise the bar a bit further with a parade – it will be quite a sight.”

Bafta nominated actor Denis Lawson who has played Wedge Antilles in Star Wars heads the list of actors who will be available for photographs.

Event Organiser Adam Pemberton said: “We are set for our largest ever Echo Base in terms of stallholders and space taken up.

“The parade is an exciting addition to the event and we look forward to seeing the look on the faces of shoppers who will be oblivious to what is going on.”

The event starts at 10am on Saturday April 13.
