Race 1. (12:10) Merson Cooper Stakes 1000m

Back Me

I like the look of 6 Flattered (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) for Patrick Payne. Daughter of Yes Yes Yes that debuts off the back of two trials and a jumpout and what is clear to me is that when she is cuddled, she has nice change up speed when asked, which has been evident in the two trials, so Billy Egan and his patient style of riding should suit this girl and I think she’ll be hard to hold out.

Danger

4 Eneeza (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) commands respect for Moody/Coleman. This girl debuted in the Ottawa on Oaks Day where she was near the speed throughout and tried her guts out but just lacked the killer blow to put them away late in the piece behind Karavas, finishing third. Had jumped out well prior to that so with the run under the belt, I am sure she’ll be around the mark.

Long Shot

3 Centre Square (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) can bounce back for Maher/Eustace. He debuted in the Maribyrnong Trial in October where he was hampered early on in the run and that took away something from home I think, finishing down the track. Freshened up and a tick over jumpout win at Cranbourne was sharp so keen to see how he goes.

Race 2. (12:40) Become An Mrc Member (Bm70) 1800m

Back Me

I think class will get 1 Vasmee (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) home. He ran at Flemington on Oaks Day where he did work on speed and he was entitled to knock up but he kept finding and was only run down late by a couple of nice horses, Holymanz and Gregolimo. Back to 70 from 90 grade, he lands on speed, proven weight carrier…I think he’s a great gamble.

Danger

4 Awash (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) deserves a crack at Saturday grade for Maher/Eustace. This gelding has won three on the bounce, the latest being just over two weeks ago at The Valley when proving quite strong at the end of the mile and was impressive in the run to the line. Racing like 1800m will be fine, in a leading camp and the way he’s racing, he commands respect.

Long Shot

9 Starianne (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) should appreciate a rise to 1800m for Busuttin/Young. She has been pretty good in two runs this time in, resuming with a win at Pakenham before going to Flemington where she did a bit of early work from the wide gate and stuck on well enough in defeat I thought behind Precious Charm. Like her up to 1800m and hard fit, she’s dangerous.

Race 3. (13:10) Whispering Angel (Bm84) 2400m

Back Me

Leaning towards 13 Haaracaine (Bet Now:
$SP.00
). Progressive stayer for Nick Ryan that is on the seven day back up after winning last Saturday at Cranbourne where he was going to be a tragedy beaten after getting held up but he managed to get clear and drove hard late for an impressive win. He tumbles in weight, he’s on the up and this isn’t a deep 84.

Danger

7 Grand Pierro (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) has found a purple patch for Jason Warren and rates highly for me. Strong win two back in the Ararat Cup before racing here two weeks ago in the Country Cups Final and you can make a case to say he should have won but didn’t get clear air until it was all over when a close up fourth to Claidheamh Mor. Like him up in trip and hard to beat if he maintains his form.

Long Shot

6 Harmysian (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) has had three runs at 2000m now so getting to 2400m should suit. Caused somewhat of a surprise in the Kyneton Cup before racing here when far from disgraced in defeat behind Claidheamh Mor after getting back off the speed. He has won up to 3000m so 2400m will be ideal and with a half positive ride, he’ll take beating.

Race 4. (13:45) Twilight Glow Stakes 1400m

Back Me

I’m with 1 Extremely Rowdy (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) for Peter Gelagotis. On the seven day back up after winning last Saturday at Cranbourne where she gave them a start and a beating, finishing off with real purpose the last 200m to win and win well. She’s racing like 1400m will be ideal, she maps perfect and hard to knock the way she’s racing at the moment.

Danger

2 Right To Party (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) has been somewhat hard to catch this prep but I do think she has the talent under the hood to measure up and threaten. She ran behind Roll On High on Cup Day at Flemington where she was back off the speed and kept finding the line in a solid effort. She has strong form lines around her to my eye and with the 1400m run under the belt, she appeals.

Long Shot

6 Bizot (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) is a talented type for Archie Alexander and I think she’ll take beating here. She ran over 1400m on Cup Day at Flemington and was one of the eye catchers of the meeting, closing off hard from near last when fourth to impressive winner Roll On High. That form produced the Thousand Guineas winner, Joliestar, so that clearly reads well for this, and I think with this filly, she can get good cover and launch late.

Race 5. (14:20) Eclipse Stakes 1800m

Back Me

3 Ain’tnodeeldun (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) is flying for Team Freedman and rates highly. This gelding has won three on the bounce, the latest coming in the JRA Cup when seemingly not at home at The Valley but class came to the fore late and he was too good. Back to 1800m from 2040m should be fine, bigger track helps and the way he is racing, he’ll be around the mark.

Danger

7 Let’srollthedice (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) has found winning form and he can certainly go on with it. Danny O’Brien trained four year old that led throughout to win comfortably at this track/distance two weeks ago, getting complete control in front and gave nothing else a look in to win and win well. He had been knocking on the door to win and now that he has, he can win again for sure.

Long Shot

5 Swords Drawn (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) is a knockout hope. Michael Moroney trains this gelding, who resumed over 1400m at Flemington on Derby Day where he was near the speed and trucking but didn’t get clear air and pretty much went around like it was a barrier trial. Fitter and up to 1800m are two big ticks and with enormous upside, he’s in with a shout.

Race 6. (15:00) Kevin Heffernan Stakes 1400m

Think, Is this a bet you really want to place?

Back Me

2 Vilana (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) looks so well in here for James Cummings. He comes through the Sir Rupert Clarke from two weeks ago at this track/distance where he should have been right in the finish but unfortunately he didn’t get the clearest of paths in the straight and should have finished much closer behind impressive winner Magic Time. He’s teasing to win a race this prep and he strikes a very winnable race here.

Danger

Fitter and up to 1400m are two big ticks for 10 Unusual Culture (Bet Now:
$SP.00
). Maher/Eustace mare that resumed two weeks back in the How Now and she was very good against the pattern, working home well from the back behind impressive winner Rose Quartz. Good second up record, up in trip, more upside than most…should prove hard to beat.

Long Shot

3 King Magnus (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) was flying this time a couple of years ago…is he going as well this time around? I wouldn’t say no. He resumed a few weeks back at Flemington and was an eye catcher from the back, working home with purpose to be beaten just under two lengths by Cause For Concern. Dodged the Cranbourne Cup to be saved for this so watch the market.

Race 7. (15:40) Sandown Guineas 1600m

Back Me

3 Modown (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) has had two runs at 1400m now so I think getting to 1600m suits. He ran three weeks back at Flemington where he was back in the ruck but saved ground nearer the inside and kept finding the line in a strong effort behind a very nice horse, Schwarz. He’ll love getting to the mile IMO and he is a horse with upside/progression compared to some here who are looking for the paddock.

Danger

1 Arkansaw Kid (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) is a slight query at 1600m but he is the class of the field and that will carry him a long way. He ran a fortnight back over 1400m when back off the speed and was left flat footed when the sprint went on but picked up and was pretty good in the run to the line behind Run Harry Run. I think with an economical run in transit, 1600m should be fine.

Long Shot

8 Vivy Air (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) has to be given another look for Archie Alexander. This filly ran two weeks ago in the Thousand Guineas where she got back to near last in the run and made up minor headway but was never really threatening behind Joliestar. The run prior was a beauty and she is capable of launching over the top if she’s within range on the turn. Don’t dismiss her.

Race 8. (16:20) Zipping Classic 2400m

Back Me

I am convinced that 2 Huetor (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) is flying and he is a horse who isn’t chewed up whereas some of these are looking for the paddock. He ran three weeks ago in the Champion Stakes and I thought he was a real eye catcher from the back behind Atishu. He’s racing like he will eat up 2400m and with upside/progression, for mine, he is clearly the one to beat.

Danger

7 Duke De Sessa (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) is a horse I have time for and he commands respect. He ran in the Queen Elizabeth three weeks ago where he seemingly had every chance in the run and presented to win but couldn’t quite get there when third to impressive winner Muramasa. Quality wise, he is just about top seed, but he is becoming frustrating to follow. That said, he has runs on the board to say he’s right in the mix.

Long Shot

4 Military Mission (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) has done a super job this time in for GaiBott and is right in the mix. He comes through the Melbourne Cup where he was never a winning threat but he kept chipping away and wasn’t too bad in the run to the line behind a star in Without A Fight. Back to 2400m is ideal and he’s hard to beat if there is petrol left in the tank.

Race 9. (17:00) Summoned Stakes 1600m

Back Me

3 Thalassophile (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) should be suited back to 1600m for Chris Waller. She ran three weeks ago in the Matriarch at Flemington where she got too far back in the run on a day where up/in was the pattern so I thought she did a very credible job in defeat behind quality mare Deny Knowledge. Coming back in trip should be ideal given she has the 2000m run under the belt.

Danger

5 Wollombi (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) is a slight query at 1600m but Team Snowden has this mare going really well. She ran over 1400m at Flemington on Cup Day and worked home with purpose from the back late behind Skew Wiff, who ran super in the Rupert Clarke, so the form does read well so if 1600m is okay for her here, she’ll be around the mark I am sure.

Long Shot

4 Frumos (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) should prove hard to beat getting back up in trip I feel. This mare ran last Saturday in the Pendant at Cranbourne and was solid to the line without threatening when fourth to Revolutionary Miss. Getting back up in trip I like, as well as getting to the bigger track, and a Waller horse on a back up is usually gold.

Race 10. (17:40) Doveton Stakes 1200m

Think, Is this a bet you really want to place?

Back Me

2 Jigsaw (Bet Now:
$SP.00
) looks suited here for Cindy Alderson and is one of the key chances. He comes through the Manikato at The Valley when outside the speed throughout and just lacked the class/quality to go with Imperatriz late in the piece. That form is clearly A1 for a race like this, he has a good racing style and is a proven weight carrier.

Danger

One of the more fascinating runners on the program is 4 Showmanship (Bet Now:
$SP.00
), who resumes for John Leek Jr. He hasn’t raced since September last year when struggling here on the bog track in the Sir Rupert Clarke behind Callsign Mav. His recent Pakenham jumpout seemingly looked a decent piece of work and his best is clearly good enough.

Long Shot

Fitter and up to 1200m are two big ticks for 13 Prowling (Bet Now:
$SP.00
). He resumed two weeks ago here in the Village where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never threatening Hypothetical, he was an eye catcher in a strong return behind the Team Freedman mare. Much better set up this time around and can certainly take this out, especially if ridden with more intent.

BEST BET: Race Six Number 2 Vilana

NEXT BEST: Race Eight Number 2 Huetor

LONG SHOT: Race One Number 6 Flattered

Quaddie (Races Seven Through To Ten):
